Wanna Bet?

Wanna BetWho among us does not need some extra motivation from time to time?  I know I certainly do.  And what better motivator than money to get us on track and doing what we know we should be doing?  Since I seem to be stuck at the same point (with only some minor fluctuations here and there), I have decided to try something new to see if it will help push me over the hump.

My friend Jennifer does a wonderful blog called It Sux to Be Fat www.itsuxtobefat.com and if you have never done so, I encourage you to check it out.  She has a very inspirational story and her blog is chock full of great information.  Jennifer is hosting a DietBet on her blog and I have decided to participate.

Each person puts $25 in the pot and the goal is to lose 4% of your current body weight in the next month.  At the end of the month, the winners of the bet will split the winnings.  You simply submit photos of your weekly weigh-in for verification and do your very best.  I am hoping that some friendly competition will be just what I need to move me past my sticking point.

I know you may be thinking that knowing my weight loss goal should be incentive enough, and in most ways, it is but after two and a half years, I think anyone could use an extra push.  As I mentioned last week, I worry that maybe I have gotten complacent, subconsciously, and if that is the case, I think it’s time to explore different types of motivation.  When I saw that Jennifer was hosting this bet, I decided that this could be a fun way to get motivated and of course, I love the thought of a little extra cash in my pocket.

Try Something New

The contest will start tomorrow and will run through March 27th. I will give you weekly updates on my progress and I hope that some of you may read this and decide that you would like to play along.  Even if I fall short and lose 3%, I feel like it still will have been worth it to try something new and fun.

    • I’m so glad Johanna! Jennifer is the one who inspired me to start Quitting Is Never An Option…I have been inspired by her story since I started Weight Watchers!

  2. I’ve been considering doing DietBet for a while now! I might have to wait until after my birthday next week to start one! (I know… probably not the right mindset!) But I look forward to your updates to see how it goes!
