Progress Report

I hope everyone is having a successful start to their week.  I feel good about mine so far but I thought now might be a good time to give you progress report on a few things.

I am finishing my third full day with no grapes and I have to admit, I am struggling!  I’m sure it’s the act of eating something as well as the natural sugars the grapes are full of that I am missing.  I find myself feeling like I am climbing the walls looking for something to replace them with.  I knew this wasn’t going to be easy and I am certainly going to stick to my guns on this issue.  I’m sure that once I get past the first week it will get a little easier.  What do they say, it takes twenty-one days to break a habit or form a new one?  My weight loss journey is certainly important enough to me to tough it through twenty-one days.

In addition to cutting out the grapes, I have also backed off on the rest of my fruit as well.  On Saturday, I had one banana, one apple, and some apple slices in the evening.  Yesterday and today I have had one banana and one apple.  I gave away the last of the tangerines I had so they would not be around to tempt me as I know they are high in sugar and carbs much like the grapes.  I am in search of some lower sugar fruits, if anyone has any suggestions.  The only thing I really dislike is cantaloupe.

One way that I have tried to curb my grape urges the last few days has been to lengthen my workouts.  This approach has two benefits in that I burn more calories and if I’m busy exercising, I don’t have time to worry about grapes or anything else for that matter.  I did 5 ½ miles on the treadmill on Saturday and 8 miles yesterday and today as well as about 45 minutes of weights each day.  I feel like the grape sacrifice and additional activity will have to pay off come weigh in on Friday.

As far as the DietBet goes, I have ten more days to meet my 8.2 lb loss and I’m really not sure what’s going to happen.  I would need a big loss this week and next to have a prayer, so we will see what happens.  I’m still glad I joined and I still think its good incentive for me.

Even though this has been a long journey and it has certainly had its ups and downs, I’m in it for the long haul and I am ready to reach my goal weight come September.  No matter how hard it gets, nothing is going to stop me!

  1. Hi Kassie, How about grape tomatoes? They are a fruit, full of vitamin C and lower in sugar content. 🙂
