Today I Am ThankfulThis week has gone by SO quickly!  I cannot believe it’s already Friday again.  I knew I was going to be off schedule this week for a lot of different reasons, so I was prepared for most anything where weigh-in was concerned.

As you know, I am making the switch to a wheat free diet which as it turns out is easier said than done.  I had absolutely no idea how many foods we eat every day contain wheat; some of them are so obscure that I would have never guessed if it had not been brought to my attention and I hadn’t started studying ingredients labels with a fine tooth comb.  It turns out that the first week I thought I was eating wheat free, I really wasn’t after all.  This week was much better, but I am still learning and still fine tuning what my day-to-day foods will be.  Combine the change in diet with the hectic schedule I had this week, and it made for a very busy week!

I really wasn’t sure how the week was going to go and I was prepared for most anything.  I had been weighing myself throughout the week and through Wednesday I had been maintaining and was even down a little bit from last week.  That all changed last night when I got on the scale just before climbing into bed and was shocked to see that I was up 6 lbs. from what I had been the day before.  This experience is the perfect example of why I say you shouldn’t weigh yourself all of the time because you can drive yourself nuts!  Of course, I stressed about it all night and even had bad dreams.  Why would I do this to myself just before bedtime the night before weigh in?

I guess the upside was that I was ready for anything when I arrived at Weight Watchers.  I went to the restroom one last time before stepping on the official scale and then it was time for the moment of truth.  I breathed an audible sigh of relief when I saw that I was only up .4 lbs. (that’s point 4).  Point 4 seems like nothing when you are thinking you’re up 6 lbs.  All in all, I was very thankful; thankful to only be up a very small amount on such a crazy week.

This week will be much more “normal” as far as my schedule and my workout routine and I feel like I am settling into a good eating pattern as I gain more knowledge about which foods contain wheat and which ones do not.  I am not experiencing the cravings I was the first week and I am becoming much more comfortable with fitting this new way of eating into my Weight Watchers program.  The flexibility of Weight Watchers is one of my favorite parts of the program.  I love that I can adapt my eating any way I like and I can still work within the guidelines of the program and still get great benefit from the meetings.

So, here I go again.  It’s a new week and I am ready to hit the ground running and I am planning for weight loss success come next Friday.  I will still be tweaking my diet here and there, but all in all, I don’t foresee anything that will hold me back this week.  I hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!
