Bump In the Road

Bump In the RoadAnyone who has made the weight loss journey knows that you must prepare yourself for the inevitable bumps in the road that will surely come.  The trick with these “bumps in the road” is to ride them out and to not let them throw you off course.  My sweet friend Julie spoke about this very thing in our Weight Watchers meeting this morning and I was so glad to hear her reminder as it made a lot of difference in how I felt for the rest of the day.

After my four-week run of consecutive losses, I’m sad to report that I was up 2.8 lbs. today.  That being said, I also have to say that I didn’t let it get me down today and I certainly will not let it prevent me from giving my best effort this week to try to insure a loss.

So why was I up this week?  I think it was a combination of things.  I stayed on plan as far as my eating this week and the week before but the week before I had a very crazy work schedule and it did disrupt my workout schedule.  In addition, I have not been drinking nearly enough water the last few weeks and because of that, I am retaining lots of fluid.

Since recognizing the problem is half of the battle, I feel like I am well equipped for success this week.  As of right now, there is nothing crazy about my work schedule for the upcoming week which means there will be nothing to disrupt my workout schedule.  As for the water, I am trying to be much more conscious of how much I am drinking.  My typical goal is half of my body weight (in ounces) of water each day.  When I follow that regimen, I don’t have issues with fluid retention.

This week’s minor setback will in no way derail my efforts.  Yes, I was disappointed but at the same time, I am excited for the possibilities that the new week holds.  Now to rest for the workout I have planned early tomorrow morning.  Have a great weekend!

  1. We all know from the title of your blog that Quitting is Never an Option, so handling bumps in the road is just something we all have to do from time to time.

Seeing how you handle the bumps in the road, and the occasional setbacks is an inspiration in itself. Thank you, Kassie!

This week will be great for us both, I predict!
