My name is Kassie.  I am 43 and live on the outskirts of Atlanta, GA.  I have my degree in Paralegal Studies and I am studying for my ACE Health Coach and Personal Trainer Certifications.  In a twenty-six month period, prior to beginning my weight loss journey, my ten-year marriage had ended in divorce, I had lost my home, my job, and my mother had been diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away.

After the dust had settled, I knew that I had to make changes to get my weight under control because I wanted to be healthy enough to enjoy the next chapter of my life.  I joined Weight Watchers in September 2011 weighing in at 370 lbs.

In the 28+ months since joining, I have lost 162.8 lbs and have about 57 more to go, meaning my total loss will be 220 lbs.

It has not been an easy journey, but it has been a VERY worthwhile journey.  I have been able to rid my body of Type II Diabetes, high cholesterol, and sleep apnea.  I have also regained self-confidence and self-worth that I had been lacking for all the years I carried the extra weight around.

I am blessed with a huge support network of family and friends.  My Dad has been instrumental in my success and I could never thank him enough.  I also met a wonderful man along the way who has always loved me exactly where I was in my journey and has been more supportive than I could have ever hoped for.  Add in all of my great friends who have cheered me on every step of the way and I feel very fortunate.

My weight loss journey has become so powerful and important to me, I feel led to help encourage other people with their journey and serve as an example that IT IS POSSIBLE!!!  Hopefully I will be able to do just that with this blog.  I will be very candid about the trials and triumphs associated with losing weight and I hope that whether you need to lose 10 lbs or 200 lbs or more, you will find something here that helps you succeed.

  1. Kassie,
I found your blog today while browsing weight watchers posts. You have a powerful and inspirational story. I began my journey on March 1 of this year. I have lost about 36 pounds so far, and have a long way to go.

Congratulations on how far you’ve come so far. I know you will continue and reach your original goals and so much more. I have added you to the blogs I follow and look forward to reading your story as you share it.

    Thank you!
